Three members of a family, including a 12-year old child, who were returning from a birthday party of their relative in Noida were killed in a road accident near the Mukundpur Flyover on Outer Ring Road early Monday morning.
At 12.05 am, police received a PCR call reporting the accident, prompting a swift response from the authorities. Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered three individuals who had been riding a motorcycle when the crash occurred.
The victims were identified as Shahid, 60, his son Faiz, 28, and his grandson Hamza, 12. All three were residents of North Gonda, said police.
According to family members, Shahid and Faiz used to work as flex operators with a company, while Hamza was studying in class 3.
“Faiz got married three years ago and is survived by his wife and two sons – 2 years old and 1 month old. Both his children are toddlers, how will his family manage without him? Faiz and Shahid were the only earning members in their family,” said Aarif (33), son-in-law of Shahid.
It is suspected to have been a hit-and-run incident, though no immediate evidence has been found to identify the vehicle involved, said police.
The area surrounding the site was examined, but no CCTV cameras were present to capture the incident. Investigators are now combing through nearby routes in search of footage or any other potential clues.
While Shahid and Faiz’s bodies were brought home to Delhi, Hamza’s body was taken to his home in Saharanpur, added Aarif.
Police also said no eyewitnesses have come forward with information regarding the crash.
In response to the incident, the Delhi Police have registered a case at Jahangirpuri police station, with charges under sections 281 (rash driving or riding in a public way) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading to the loss of life.
