The Gurugram Police on Sunday apprehended three individuals, including two minors, for assaulting a cab driver and robbing him of his car and mobile phone at Pataudi bypass early on Friday, officers said on Monday. According to the police, the arrests were made in Jataula village in Gurgaon. The case came to light on Friday after the Pataudi police received information about the robbery, officers said. "The victim, a cab driver, reported that on the intervening night of October 9 and 10, he was booked to drive five passengers from Sector 12 to Pataudi Road. Around 4:40 am, near Pataudi bypass, one passenger claimed to feel nauseous, prompting the driver to pull over. The other passengers then threatened him with a knife and a homemade pistol, pushed him out of the vehicle, and fled with his car, mobile phone, and other belongings", a police officer said. Acting on the complaint, the police apprehended the three accused, including one identified as Mosood (19) from Mohinagar at North Dinajpur district in West Bengal, officers said. "During questioning, it was revealed the accused, who are addicted to drugs, planned the robbery at a park in Sector 12. The police recovered a homemade pistol, two live cartridges, a knife, the stolen car, and the mobile phone from their possession. Further investigation is underway," police said. A case was registered at the Pataudi police station under relevant sections. In a similar incident, in September, a Delhi cab driver was robbed by a gang of carjackers that included women. According to the Delhi Police, two of the four male gang members had used their girlfriends to gain the drivers’ trust and book long rides through a ride hailing app. As per their plan, the accused men in the cab shared the live location and vehicle details with Aladdin, the gang leader. He instructed them to lure the driver to a secluded location on the pretext of drinking water or vomiting. However, when the driver did not comply, they executed their plan. The police had said Aladdin and one Juned’s girlfriend were also a part of the gang, and they were involved in three cases of car thefts registered at Gurgaon, Mewat, and Timarpur, Delhi. Officers had said at the time that raids are on to nab the two women soon.
