Her father Sultan Singh and his friend from Bangalore,Raja Raman, were mowed down by a speeding car, being driven by its cleaner, while they were out for a morning walk on Monday.

Suraksha’s marriage was scheduled for February 24.

She said her father had been busy with preparations for various wedding functions.

“Police did not tell us all the facts of the case. They did not tell us that the car had an MEA sticker. We came to know through news reports. People who drive on city roads without any care should be dealt with severely,” she said.

Suraksha is the eldest of Singh’s three daughters.

Singh’s nephew Gulshan said,“We are in a state of shock. There was a wedding set to happen and now everything has changed. Our aunt (Singh’s wife) is unable to talk to anyone.”

As the family prepared for Singh’s funeral,Raman’s body was flown back to Bangalore.
