(Express Photo) A 34-year-old man, who had allegedly snatched gold earrings from a woman, swallowed them after being caught by her in Northeast Delhi’s Brahampuri, officers said. The man has been arrested, said police.
Police said that the incident took place on Thursday at 10 pm when the victim, Phoolan Devi, was on her way to her house when an unidentified man on a bike came and snatched her gold earrings from her ears.
Police said the earrings weighed four grams, adding that the accused, Nasir, also allegedly snatched the woman’s purse and tried to flee.
Over the next few minutes, Devi took help from a passerby and caught hold of Nasir.
“However, after being caught, Nasir allegedly swallowed the gold earrings… He has been arrested and legal action is being taken,” said an officer.
