Police said they had received several complaints of late about people being drugged and robbed while travelling in an auto.
One such complaint was filed by a resident of Maharashtra,Rahul Ashok Mahajan, who had boarded the auto, which was already occupied by two passengers.
Mahajan got into the auto at Nizamuddin railway station and was headed towards Dhaula Kuan.
Police said one of the passengers offered juice to Mahajan, who fainted after drinking it. He filed a complaint two days later, when he regained consciousness.
Mahajan told police that all his valuables were missing.
Police received information that the trio was at Nizamuddin station, from where they were arrested.
They mainly targeted people going towards bus terminals or railway stations, and were carrying suitcases, said Ajay Chaudhry,Additional Commissioner of Police (Southeast).
They offered their victims a ride at the cheapest rates and after travelling some distance, one of them would stop the vehicle for buying water or drinks. He would lace the drink with sedatives and offer it to the victim. Once the person fell
unconscious, they would flee with the bags and other valuables, Chaudhry said.
Police said Irfan and Wahid have been imprisoned before for thefts.
