The story of an FIR against AAP MLA Manoj Kumar, and an arrest after 14 months
Complainant Vijay Kumar said he had lodged his complaint over an year ago, and recalled making repeated visits to the New Ashok Nagar police station for weeks after that.

Just 12 days before AAP MLA Manoj Kumar was arrested on charges of cheating and forgery, the Delhi police had contacted the complainant, Vijay Kumar, to ask if he had reached a “settlement” with the legislator. Vijay replied in the negative and, according to sources in police, the process of collecting evidence against Manoj Kumar had begun — almost a year after the original FIR was registered.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Vijay Kumar said he had lodged his complaint over an year ago, and recalled making repeated visits to the New Ashok Nagar police station for weeks after that.
“I stopped visiting the police station after some months, but then 12 days ago I got a call from the investigation officer. He asked me whether I had reached a settlement with Kumar. I said no and he hung up,” he said.

Vijay Kumar also stated that he informed the IO that the MLA had not returned his money, and he was still waiting for justice.
Police officers refused to comment on whether such calls were made to Vijay Kumar.
Sources said that before arresting Manoj Kumar, the investigators had collected all the evidence and verified all the documents and other papers with the forensic laboratory as well as the registrar’s office. “On Wednesday evening, the plan was finalised and a team of nearly 50 police personnel was formed. This included ten inspectors and 12 sub-inspectors under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ajay Kumar,” said sources.

Later, one of the teams reached Kumar’s home and after serving notice to him, they asked him to come along with them. He was picked up on Thursday and taken to Farsh Bazar police station where after some hours, his arrest was made,” police sources said.
