The Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport has added another facility for its users — park and fly. The passengers can now leave their cars parked at the airport and collect them on return. At present, there is no cap on the number of days a vehicle can remain in the facility.

For the facility,a passenger will have to pay Rs 500 for the first day,Rs 400 for the second day and Rs 300 for every additional day. The new initiative has been proposed by the airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).

“With ‘park and fly’,passengers will have the convenience of parking their cars for an extended number of days at the multi-level car parking when they fly out of T3,” a DIAL spokesperson said.

The DIAL said the charges are more than 45 per cent cheaper than the standard parking rates. The standard premium parking charge for 24 hours is Rs 900,while the general parking charge is Rs 600.

“So,parking a car at premium car parking for three days would cost Rs 2,700 and at general parking it would be Rs 1,800,but under park and fly a passenger will be paying only Rs 1,200,” the spokesperson added.

The facility will have a dedicated customer service desk, secured and guarded parking space with CCTV cameras and a dedicated fire fighting system. It will be available at the premium parking area on the ground level.

The parking is connected to T3 through a corridor at ground level and via an air-conditioned skywalk with travelators on the second level. The parking is also connected to the Airport Metro Express Line,he said.

The T3 has a capacity to park 4,300 vehicles. The parking area has ground plus six floors, where the terrace can also be used for parking.

“This facility has been specially constructed with post-tensioned reinforced concrete slabs and beams, since the floors are constantly subjected to heavy and shifting loads of moving vehicles. For the parking facility of T3,the static and dynamic loading conditions have also been taken into account together with the structural seismic requirements of Delhi region,” he said.
