Teachers going too fast? Refer to diary and keep a check

Speaking to Newsline,Director of Education Amit Singla said the diaries will serve the purpose of keeping students apprised of what will be taught in class,while allowing them to keep a check on the pace of the teacher. “Sometimes children feel the teacher is going too fast and they struggle to keep up. The diary will help them decide if the teacher needs to go slower or faster.

More than 17 lakh diaries have been printed in Hindi and English and sent for distribution. The diaries also include the daily time table,a yearly calendar,an annual school calendar and a list of important phone numbers. Notes on the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE),explaining examination patterns as well as the formative and summative assessments and grading systems,have also been included.

According to the Singla,the diary was put together this year by a team of experts,including principals of government schools and officials from the Directorate of Education.

Besides the diaries,the team is also in the process of preparing support material for government schools. The material will be made available to students who may not be able to afford expensive study guides available in the market.
