A nine-year-old student was allegedly left bleeding after the sports teacher of a school in Gurgaon’s Sector-10 twisted his nose after losing a game of chess against him.

The incident was reported at Meenakshi Public School on Wednesday morning, but the boy’s uncle complained to police on Thursday after he narrated the ordeal to him. Though police lodged a complaint, they said the matter has been sorted out after both parties reached a compromise.

The Class V boy lives with his uncle as his parents are posted in Rajasthan.

“On Wednesday morning,he was playing chess with the sports teacher. As he made some good moves, the children around them started cheering. My nephew was also delighted and he jokingly told the teacher: ‘Sir,I got both your bishops.’ The teacher got angry at this and twisted his nose. It started bleeding. He told us about this at night,” his uncle told police.

“After that, the teacher threatened the boy that he will ban him from sports if he told anybody about the incident,” the uncle said.

He also alleged that the teacher had earlier slapped the child for not carrying his identification tag properly.

“When we asked for a clarification from the school because corporal punishment is banned, the school authorities misbehaved with us. So we decided to file a police complaint,” he said.

The school authorities later sent an apology letter to police. “It was not intentional. The instructor might have playfully touched the nose of the child.

I called the parents to sort out the matter on Thursday morning. The matter has been resolved,” Anil Hada, the school chairman, said.
