The police have arrested a 43-year-old tantrik for kidnapping and raping a minor girl in the Capitals southwest district. The victim,who had reportedly been missing for the last 11 days,was repeatedly raped by the tantrik,a family acquaintance,after he sedated her with with a substance mixed in her tea.
The 17-year-old girl was reported missing on November 21 by her father,a resident of Jain Colony in
Uttam Nagar,following which a case of kidnapping was registered at the Bindapur police station. Following this,the police had begun investigating the case.
Later,acting on a tip-off,the police apprehended the tantrik at Dhaula Kuan. The victim,who was held captive by the accused,was then returned to her family. Goyal,was was reportedly planning to take the victim to Rohtak,had stopped at a temple in Dhaula Kuan.
The victim,in her statement,said,Goyal had cast a spell on me. He gave me tea,after which I cannot remember what happened.
The victims father had earlier approached the tantrik,stating that his daughter was possessed. He wanted her to be exorcised at the earliest so she could be married off.
Goyal told the police that he had been holding a darbar in the name of Balaji Jagran Samiti at his residence in Rohtak one Tuesday,when the victims father approached him for help. Following this,he began treating the girl.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest district) Parmaditya said,On November 21,Goyal came to Delhi and asked the victim to come to the Sai Baba temple at Najafgarh. Then,on the pretext of treating her,he took her with him to Haryana and Himachal Pradesh,where he sexually assaulted her.
The police also recovered an amulet the tantrik had given to the girl. Goyal is reportedly married and has two children.
The accused was known to the family. Of all the rape cases that have taken place since 2009,only 3 per cent of the cases involve the victim being raped by strangers. The rest of the 97 per cent was committed by known persons, said Amulya Patnaik,Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range).
