Take home copy of IIT-JEE answer sheet from 2012

Students appearing for the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam in 2012 will be allowed to take home a copy of their answer sheets on the day of the examination itself.

Students appearing for the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam (IITJEE) in 2012 will be allowed to take home a copy of their answer sheets on the day of the examination itself.

Also,all girls applying for the exam will be exempted from paying the application fee from next year,irrespective of category,sources in the top institute said.

Students are required to pay an application fee of

Rs 1,800 for the general category and half of that for the reserved category. The darkening of bubbles on the ORS,done using HB pencils till now,will now be done with pens. However,there will be no changes in the pattern of the exam.

IIT Delhi will be conducting the IITJEE next year,for the fourth time since its inception. The date for the exam has been fixed for the April 8,2012. The responsibility for conducting the exam is given to a different institute every year by the JAB. IIT Kanpur conducted the exam this year. Approximately 6 lakh students apply for the entrance exam every year and about 4.5 lakh students take the exam.

Currently,IIT uploads a scanned copy of the applicants’ Objective Response Sheets (ORS) on the website and also provides copies on request after the results are declared. But,from next year,a chemical-based carbon copy will be attached to the original ORS,which the students will be allowed to take away with them. The decision was taken at the Joint Admission Board (JAB) meeting of the IITs here on Friday.
