A 53-year-old man died and four others sustained injuries after the driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle, which hit two motorcycles, a car, and a handcart at Aman Vihar in Rohini on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.
A 23-year-old man who was driving the SUV, a white Hyundai Creta, was arrested the same day.
Following the accident, injured Arun Kumar (38), Rahul Singh (29), Sachin (18), Rajender Yadav (53) and SUV driver Hridya Juneja (23) were rushed to a nearby hospital. Yadav, the handcart owner who ran a tea stall, died during treatment at the hospital, police said.
The police said while Arun works as a property dealer, Rahul works on a contract basis with the SBI, and Sachin is attached to a factory that manufactures mattresses.
Juneja, who works with his father in their business of manufacturing water cooler motors, was arrested after an FIR was lodged at the Aman Vihar police station.
