Students stab each other outside five-star hotel

Two students of a private computer institute stabbed each other during an alleged drunken brawl at the gates of a five-star hotel in the Capital late Thursday night.

Two students of a private computer institute stabbed each other during an alleged drunken brawl at the gates of a five-star hotel in the Capital late Thursday night. They were at a friend’s party when the incident occurred.

While one of them is recuperating at the AIIMS Trauma Centre,the other has been admitted to a hospital in Palam Vihar. Both have filed police complaints.

The two accused,both BCA students from a private institute in Lodhi Colony,are from Lajpat Nagar and Bijwasan. “The incident occurred around 1 am while they were attending a classmate’s birthday party at the hotel. They had an argument at the exit gate of the hotel,following which they hit each other with sharp objects. One sustained injuries in the stomach and left arm and the other in the stomach,” a police officer said.

The incident came to light after the two students went home and told their parents about the brawl who then informed police.

In his statement,one of the youths said he saw the other person drinking at the hotel. When he refused to down “a peg”,the other person emptied his glass on him and punched him in the eye. The statement mentioned that he was at the exit gate when he was assaulted.

The other youth,in his complaint,said he had an altercation during the party and left the hotel. He alleged that at the exit gate,he was held by three persons while a fourth stabbed him in the stomach.

“While one of the students used a Swiss knife,the other attacked with a piece of broken glass. We have registered complaints from both parties,” said K C Dwivedi,Additional CP (New Delhi).
