When Greater Noida police arrested Bulandshahr resident Arpit Sharma for trying to drive away in a stolen Innova car along with a friend from Khurja, they did not know that he was doing it for the cause of education. According to the police,Sharma told them during an interrogation that he had committed the crime because he needed money to pay the rest of his fees to a technical institute in Dubai.

According to SP (Rural) Atul Saxena,it all started when Mahendra Pal,a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan, asked his driver,Aman,to drop a relative to Aligarh in the Innova car on Sunday evening. The incident occurred while Aman was returning.

Aman had reached G T Road in Dadri when he felt a Scorpio was pursuing him. A 15-minute chase later, the three occupants of the Scorpio managed to overtake the Innova and forced Aman to alight at gunpoint.
