A 15-year-old student of Gautam Buddh Balak Inter College was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his hostel room on Thursday afternoon. Hemant Kumar of Kasganj had returned to the hostel around 10 am on Thursday after the Dussehra holidays,police said. Officers said Kumars body was discovered around 2.30 pm after his hostel-mates went looking for him as he didnt turn up for lunch. He used a bedsheet to hang himself. The Class XI student was suspended in August for running away from the school. The suspension was later revoked, an officer said. The institute,launched just two years ago,was built under the Mahamaya education scheme an initiative of former chief minister Mayawati. The room was locked from inside. Preliminary investigation points to suicide. But it is not clear what happened prior to the boy taking the extreme step. Employees of the school told us that boy was seen on the campus on Wednesday evening,but was taken away by his relatives. He came back in the morning, the officer said. The family is insisting that no post-mortem examination should be done. But thats against the law and we will go ahead with the autopsy. The report will reveal more details, the officer said.
