Strict vigil on akharas,borders to be sealed

The Delhi election office has also asked the two neighbours to assist the Delhi Police in executing the non-bailable warrants related to criminals in their states.

While the state election machinery will ensure access control at all the 123 border pickets that Delhi shares with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to check the flow of money,alcohol and criminals ahead of the December 4 elections,the neighbouring states will also seal borders at their end. They will also maintain strict vigil on akharas and monitor the movement of musclemen,if any.

After a crackdown on printing presses in Delhi put a stop to illegal printing of posters and banners of candidates,printing of illegal campaign material has now moved to NCR. UP and Haryana will now launch a crackdown on presses printing election material without the printer line. The Delhi election office has also asked the two neighbours to assist the Delhi Police in executing the non-bailable warrants related to criminals in their states.

The neighbouring states have assured all possible assistance. The Election Commission of India held a meeting with top officials — including chief secretaries,DGPs and chief electoral officers — of all the five states going to polls and their neighbouring states to assess the law and order situation.

Delhi shares its border with four Haryana districts of Sonepat,Jhajjar,Gurgaon and Faridabad,and with three UP districts of Baghpat,Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar.
