Still room at top colleges for top courses in second list

Though some colleges chose to be cautious by not dropping the percentage by more than 0.5, many have dropped as much as 5 points for certain courses.

The Delhi University released its second cut-off list for undergraduate admissions on Monday night with most popular courses such as Economics (Honours), English (H) and BCom (H), and science subjects such as Mathematics (H) and Physics (H), still open for admissions in various top colleges. Cut-offs for various courses have fallen by more than 1 percentage point in many courses.

Though some colleges chose to be cautious by not dropping the percentage by more than 0.5, many have dropped as much as 5 points for certain courses. Some others have chosen to stay with the same percentage as the first cut-off. B Com (H) still remains open for admissions in popular colleges such as Gargi, Hansraj, Hindu, IP, Lady Sri Ram, Ramjas, SGTB Khalsa and Sri Venkateswara. Even BCom (Programme) is still available at top colleges such as Daulat Ram, Gargi, Ramjas, SGTB Khalsa and Sri Venkateswara.

Despite being in demand, admissions to Economics and English still remains open in Daulat Ram, Hansraj, Hindu, IP, Kirori Mal, Lady Sri Ram and Ramjas. Popular colleges where history is still on offer include Hansraj, Hindu, IP, KMC, LSR.

oneAlthough Hindu College has reduced its percentage by 0.5 in most courses like Economics, English and History, courses like BA Programme and BA Philosophy have seen a dip of 1.5 and 3 points, respectively. The cut-off for English (H) in Kamala Nehru was 97 per cent in the first list, which has now fallen to 93.5.

Other colleges too dipped their cut-off percentages drastically in courses like Hindi and Sanskrit. In IP College, BA Hindi (Hons) has seen a dip of almost 5 points, from 87 in the first list to 82 in the second list. Hindi has also seen a 5-point dip in KNC from 82 to 78.
