The South Delhi Corporation has drawn out plans to improve the aesthetics of area under its jurisdiction. The agency will soon implement a facelift scheme with intensified sanitation drive, beautification of open spaces and repair of broken footpath, roads and drains in its area.
We are working on a unique scheme under which the entire South Delhi will be revamped. A model has been set up wherein three departments engineering, horticulture and sanitation will work in coordination to improve the condition in the area. The officials will take up wards one by one, said a senior official.
The plan is to divide the work into two halves, every day. Every morning nearly a dozen sanitation officials will carry out the routine sweeping of the streets. In the next half of the day,a sanitary inspector, along with the engineering and horticulture officials, will survey each wards to note the loopholes.
Based on the findings of the the sanitary inspector,we will finalise the schedule for the revamp work. First, the area will be made garbage-free,and then,it will be beautified. The three departments will coordinate on the works, the officials said.
The decision for a revamp was taken in a meeting between Municipal Commissioner Manish Gupta,Mayor Savita Gupta and Leader of House Subhash Arya.
Our idea is to make South Delhi an ideal place to live in. There is a lot of room to make the area better. The area will be made free of garbage. There are many gardens and parks, which lie in a shoddy state. We will also beautify parks and open spaces on a public-private partnership model. They will be given to the a private company to beautify,in return they can put up there boards in the park, said Arya.
