According to Nishi Kant of Shakti Vahini, the women were brought to Gurgaon from Bihar and West Bengal, and provided to customers across the city.

“The couple had been running this business for a long time. The woman was arrested by the police for a similar offence earlier also,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Abhay Rao said. They usually targeted women in search of jobs,he added.

However, the woman’s partner claimed during questioning that he was just living with her,and had no part to play in the racket.

The man,a resident of Pataudi, reportedly said that he had even complained to the police against her,but to no avail.
