In a fresh twist to the Air India mid-air alleged scuffle and molestation case, airhostess Komal Singh has accused the National Commission for Women (NCW) of altering her statements to help one of the two accused. In an affidavit submitted by her to NCW chairperson Girija Vyas on Tuesday,Singh has alleged that not only has her deposition been changed, she has not yet received the copy of cross-examination of statements though she had approached the NCW several times. We had asked for a copy of the report, before it is made public. However, the commission is sitting on it and is not ready to show it to the victim, one of her close aides said. Sources said one of the committee members investigating the case tried to put pressure on Singh to drop charges of sexual harassment against the co-pilot. In the affidavit it has been alleged that Singh was called on Monday and one NCW member tried to convince her to change her version. According to sources in NCW,the preliminary report (still under wraps) says a forceful push by Captain Ranbir Arora resulted in hurt and pain and could have led to a head injury. Mention of sexual assault is nowhere in the report, said victims close aide. The commission wants to play safe. While the case was that of sexual harassment against the pilot and the co-pilot,the preliminary report allows the co-pilot to go scot-free. Vyas claimed that shes yet to see the affidavit. She,however, assured that Singhs dignity would be maintained. At no point should she feel that we will be unjustified towards her, she said, adding that the report is yet to be completed. She assured that the commission would submit it before the Parliament session starts.
