The middle department of Bal Bharati Public School organised an Inter-house English Declamation Competition on November 20,2011. Each house was represented by a participant. The speakers delivered the speech of Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram on the historic eve of Dandi March. The judges,Radha Nair (PGT English) and Deepika Bhasin (TGT English),were thrilled by the participants articulation of the renowned leader’s words. Sanaya Mahajan (7B) of Shivaji House was given the first prize. Apoorva Dua (8B) and Meghansh Goel (8D) of Jawahar House and Ashoka House stood second and third respectively.

Students of RD Rajpal School visit the President

Students of RD Rajpal Public School,Sector-9,Dwarka,got a bonanza when they met Pratibha Patil,the President of India. The sight of the beautiful Rashtrapati Bhawan thrilled the children. The grandeur of the Mughal Garden was breathtaking and the children were ushered to meet the First Lady. Principal Alka Kshatriya introduced the students to her. Greeting cards made by children,sparkled with quotes and messages,were presented to the President. She accepted the bouquets and mementos from the children. The students responded enthusiastically when they were granted permission to ask the President questions. The wish of the youngest child to know about her childhood experiences was readily fulfilled when the President recollected her joyous time spent on a playfield. When asked about the secret of her success,she said that tireless work gives her the strength to achieve success in whatever task she undertakes. On being asked whether her interest in political career dated back to her childhood,she replied that it was the exposure gained during the freedom struggle that inspired her to enter politics. The interview concluded with a child asking the President whether she was naughty as a child. The President laughed and replied in the negative,before advising the children against being naughty if they wanted to succeed in life. The children left with cherished memories of their glorious visit.

Art exhibition at St Mark’s School,Meera Bagh

St Mark’s Sr Sec Public School,Meera Bagh,organised an art exhibition to mark the end of 2011 in the most colourful and vibrant way.The exhibition was held on December 17. The art exhibition saw eager and enthusiastic parents lining up to witness some of the most intricate pieces of art. It also explicitly showcased the artistic and creative talents of the students. The art and craft work of the students from the primary classes was the cynosure of all eyes. An array of artwork of the students of Classes VI-XII,which included acrylic paintings,charcoal drawing and paintings,watercolour paintings,poster colour paintings,smoke paintings,relief work,glass paintings,etc,mesmerised the visitors. It was evident that the students had acquired knowledge about various painting techniques which could be seen on display so vividly.

Springdales School annual day and award ceremony

Springdales School,Dhaula Kuan,celebrated its Junior School Annual Day and Prize giving Function on January 24,2012. Dr Shanno Khurana,eminent vocalist and musicologist who has been conferred with the Padmabhushan and Padma Shri for contribution in the field of music,was the chief guest of the function. The junior choir presented a medley of songs in English,Hindi and Tamil,depicting the simple values of life stressing on perseverance and promoting love for the nation. Dr Jyoti Bose,principal,Springdales School,welcomed the guests and invited them to a vibrant and colourful journey of Springdalian Education through the world of children. She called on the educational fraternity to build ‘synergy’ and ‘zest’ as intrinsic parts of school culture and build a strong foundations in junior school for a sound academic base in senior years. Sujata Maleyvar,headmistress,Springdales School,presented the school report and highlighted the various activities and achievements of the students over the year.

Cambridge football,hockey teams bring back laurels

The football team of Cambridge School,Indirapuram,won the runner’s up trophy at the Tata Tea Jaago Re Inter Milan Soccer Stars 2012 at Ambedkar Stadium on January 13. As many as 70 teams had participated in this competition. The school’s girls hockey team also won the fourth District Hockey Championship,organised by the District Hockey Association on January 24. The trophy was given away by Tushar Khandekar,captain of the Indian Hockey Team.

Conference on life skills,first aid and CPR

Learners of Lotus Valley International School,Gurgaon,attended a conference on ‘Life-skills in adolescent stage and first-aid and CPR’ at the National Science Centre,held on Friday,January 20,2012. Keeping in tandem with the much required life skills in the emerging paradigm of Life Skills Education in schools,‘Expressions India’ launched the IX Annual Adolescent Peer Educators’ Orientation Course with CBSE school health initiatives,and encouraged the peer educators to spread good practices. It focused on the ‘Emerging paradigm of first aid and CPR in schools’.
