With Delhi going to polls in less than a week, the AAP and the Congress are planning to hold joint campaigns for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The INDIA bloc has been holding joint closed door meetings and door-to-door programmes for "better coordination" during the polls, said sources. To be sure, senior Congress leaders such as Sachin Pilot and Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to hold or take part in roadshows for AAP candidates. For instance, in East Delhi, the AAP has fielded a reserved candidate and Kharge may participate in the roadshow in the constituency, said a party source, requesting anonymity. According to officials, both the political parties have zeroed in on a few dates for the joint campaigns. "We have discussed and sent two-three dates with the Congress. Once they confirm the dates, we will jointly hold the campaigns.," said a senior AAP official. A senior Congress leader, meanwhile, said: "We have discussed the dates verbally. once the written application comes. dates will be fixed. maybe dates will be confirmed by tomorrow (Friday) evening. Only a few days are left (for Delhi polling). aggressive campaigns will now begin." However, both the parties are yet to decide on the joint campaigns. Another senior AAP leader said: "Congress leaders have proposed to hold joint campaigns. we would also like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other senior party leaders to hold rallies, and if they hold roadshows in Delhi. we will also participate. but they have yet to decide on a date." At 6 pm on Saturday, Congress's top star campaigner Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to hold his first rally in the Chandini Chowk constituency; Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to hold a roadshow in North East Delhi's Ghonda that day. Earlier this week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal conducted roadshows in all the four constituencies from where AAP candidates are contesting, along with rallies for INDIA bloc candidates on Congress tickets. According to AAP officials, the Delhi CM will hold more such roadshows and jansabha meetings at all the four constituencies in the coming days . The AAP and the Congress are contesting the Lok Sabha polls on a seat agreement of 3:4 seats. The polls in Delhi will be held on May 25.
