Exposing “misgovernance” that brought the Capital to a “standstill under the AAP government” for more than a decade while “remaining visible and among the people” – this is the brief that the Delhi Cabinet is said to have been given by the BJP top brass.
According to party insiders, instances of the newly sworn-in BJP ministers hitting the ground across Delhi to highlight “the sorry state of the city’s public infrastructure”, would continue “as a matter of principle” over the coming days.
“The new Cabinet has been asked not only to hit the ground to underline the BJP’s commitment to redeveloping the Capital as a world class city, they have also been told to maintain a fine balance between their duties as legislators and ministers,” a senior BJP leader said.

“In addition to visibly focussing on specific problem points and locations – especially in their Assembly constituencies – they have also been asked to remain accessible to their local constituents… Further, they have been asked to compile a list of problems, which will be tackled through specific plans vetted by the Centre,” the leader added.
The ministers said they were likely to hit the ground “on a daily basis” to underline the “state of mess” that the city’s basic services and its infrastructure were in.
“It is essential to identify specific problems when it comes to both services and the crumbling infrastructure of Delhi that AAP’s rule is responsible for,” a senior minister said.
“How will we be able to solve the problems that people face on a daily basis due to the AAP’s misgovernance, which brought development in Delhi to a standstill, if we do not identify them first? We will continue hitting the ground almost on a daily basis,” the minister added.

Another minister said that with added emphasis on their respective constituencies, carrying out the national leadership’s brief of being “visible” had become more convenient.
“Identifying issues related to infrastructure and public services in our constituencies first has actually made the task easier. People will increasingly see us solving the problems they face,” the minister added.
