Two men were arrested and a minor was apprehended for allegedly stabbing a Rapido bike driver to death after stealing money from him in Delhi’s Rohini area on Tuesday, the police said.
The police identified two of the accused as Krissh and Ankit alias Mogli, and the deceased as Rajjab Khan, 30, a Rapido bike driver from Loni in Ghaziabad.
According to the police, the duo and the minor were at a park in Sector 17, Rohini, early on Tuesday morning, waiting for a friend, who was coming on a Rapido bike. “The associate, who is absconding, said that they could rob the driver. At about 4 am, the deceased, along with the associate, reached the park. The accused robbed the deceased of Rs 570,” Rajiv Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini, said.
The accused then sat on Krissh’s bike and headed towards Sector 26, Rohini, the police said. But, to their surprise, they were chased down by Khan, who intercepted them near a school, the police added.
“At this point, Ankit took out a knife and stabbed the deceased, causing his death. All three fled, abandoning Krissh’s motorcycle, which got stuck in a drain,” DCP Ranjan said.
At about 6.15 am, the police control room received a call about an accident near Shamshan Ghat Road in Sector 26. When a police team reached the spot, they found Khan’s body on the road, with multiple injuries, including stab wounds.
According to the police, two motorcycles were also recovered—an Apache parked on the roadside and a Hero Passion Pro lying in a drain. One of the bikes was registered in Khan’s name, the police said.
While a police team and forensic experts have inspected the spot, the body was sent for a post-mortem. An investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and identify those involved, the police said.
