Rahul Fazilpuria shooting: 5 suspects, also wanted in murder case, nabbed after encounter

(File Photo)Following an exchange of gunfire in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, the Haryana Police apprehended five suspects in connection with the incident involving the firing of bullets at singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria in July. Four of the men sustained injuries in the gunfight.
The operation was conducted by a joint team of Manesar Crime Branch Sector-31, Sector-43, and the Gurugram Special Task Force (STF) near Wazirpur on Pataudi Road around 12.15 am.
The development comes nearly three weeks after the last breakthrough in the case when a 24-year-old suspect was apprehended following an alleged police encounter in Gurgaon. The five men nabbed now are also wanted in connection with the Rohit Shaukeen murder case, in which a 39-year-old resident of West Delhi’s Nangloi was gunned down near Kherki Daula Toll Plaza in Sector 77 earlier this month.
“During today’s encounter, four of the five suspects sustained bullet injuries and were admitted to a hospital for treatment. The fifth suspect, Gautam, was arrested and booked under relevant sections at the Sector 10 police station”, a police spokesperson stated. Approximately 18 rounds were fired during the exchange of fire, he added.
Fazilpuria was shot at on the Southern Peripheral Road section near Badshahpur in Gurgaon’s Sector 71 in July. He had escaped unhurt in the incident. The rapper was allegedly standing near his SUV when the attackers arrived in another car and opened fire. Soon after, Fazilpuria got into his car and sped away. The attackers could not chase him due to the traffic, and he reportedly managed to escape.
According to Fazilpuria, the attackers fired at him multiple times, but he was not injured and his vehicle was not damaged. Soon, the police arrested a Sonipat resident who allegedly carried out the recce for the shooting.
In another recent incident involving the nabbing of a suspect following an exchange of fire, the Gurgaon police apprehended a teen on Friday, a week after over a dozen gunshots were fired outside the Gurgaon residence of YouTuber Elvish Yadav. A man was also arrested from Faridabad on Saturday for allegedly providing a motorcycle used in the attack.
The Himanshu Bhau gang had claimed responsibility for that attack hours after the incident. In a post on Instagram, the gang said Yadav was targeted as he promoted betting platforms. The Gurgaon police subsequently lodged a First Information Report (FIR) on charges of attempt to murder, criminal acts by multiple accused with common intention, and offences under the Arms Act.
