After a slew of Games songs and a not-so-popular anthem, the closing ceremony on Thursday will see another song making it to the unusually long list of musical creations for the sporting event. Pyar Phailayen Lets spread love, composed by music director trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy and penned by lyricist Prasoon Joshi, will be performed live by Shankar Mahadevan at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
This song is about spreading love and warmth in the world. The Games has ended. We have done so well and its time to celebrate the grand success of the event. We have always shown the world what a beautiful and giving nation we are. Its time to show them that this nation believes in the idea of spreading love and affection, said Joshi,a member of the Creative Committee working on the closing ceremony.
When the Creative Committee got in touch with me a few days back to compose the finale song,I readily agreed. This one is about national pride and it is an honour that I am getting to be a part of something as prestigious as this, said Mahadevan who landed in Delhi on Wednesday.
It is poetic, has simple lyrics and full of energy. Since it is all about rejoicing at the end of the Games,I am sure people will sing along and dance with the beats and fast tempo that are an integral part of this song, said Mahadevan, quickly adding that this would, however, not be a trademark Shankar Ehsaan Loy tune. It is different from anything that I have ever composed, he said.
The song will feature in the final segment called Music of Universal Love and will have dancers from Shiamak Davars troupe dancing to it. On whether his song can be compared with that of Rahman,Mahadevan said,Lets not do that. I would not like to comment on that. I can only talk about my song, which I think will be appreciated by the audience.
