Post-mortem confirms rape of 11-yr-old, death due to asphyxia

Multiple vaginal tears, vaginal discharge, bluish colouring in the perineal areas and abrasions around the hymen suggest recent sexual intercourse, the report states.

The findings of the report suggest the girl was out of breath when the accused tried to cover her mouth to stop her from shouting, but the cause of death was identified as “asphyxia due to manual compression of neck”.

The report states, “Bruising of subcutaneous tissue and muscle corresponding to external neck injuries and fractured left superior thyroid cartilage are the major cause of death.”

A police officer said they suspect the girl was raped by someone she knew. “There is only one road that leads to the spot where the body was found. There is no other way you can reach the spot in the bushes. Also, one has to climb a 3ft-high wall to reach there,” the officer said.

Police said the girl’s family lives 200m away from the crime scene and had shifted to Wazirabad village six months ago.

The girl, daughter of a washerman, had gone to deliver clothes in Sector-27. “The girl left home around 8.30 pm. When she did not return home, her family began to panic. They went to all the houses where they generally delivered clothes after washing and ironing,” Sandeep Kumar, SHO, Sector-29 police station, said.

When they could not find her, the girl’s father, along with relatives, went to police. “We registered an FIR around 12.30 am on Monday. The team, along with the girl’s family, began looking for the girl,” Kumar said.

According to police, the girl’s body was found around 6.45 am, nearly 10 hours after she went missing. Police said the body was found in the bushes near an abandoned flat in Sector-29 — 100m away from where the girl had gone to deliver clothes.
