Six gangsters, including incarcerated mobster Neeraj Bawania’s father, were arrested after a slew of raids spanning across six cities were conducted by the Delhi Police teams from Outer North and Rohini districts early Thursday.
Apart from the 39 teams from the Outer North District, 19 teams from Rohini also participated in the raids, supervised by DCP Rajiv Ranjan.
“The raids were executed at 58 locations across Delhi, Sonipat, Sampla, Jhajjar, Rohtak, and Bahadurgarh. A total of 820 police personnel participated in the operation. This included 39 teams with 500 personnel from the Outer North District, and 19 teams with 320 personnel from the Rohini District,” a senior police officer said.
According to the police, Bawania’s father, Prem Singh Sehrawat, 67, was found at his house in the Bawana area of Delhi when one of the 39 teams from the Outer North district, under the supervision of Hareshwar Swami, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North), knocked on his door.
“He was found at his house and was promptly arrested. A gun was recovered and a bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio was found on Sehrawat, who has now been arrested under the Arms Act,” a senior police officer said.
Other than Sehrawat, Shaktiman, 34, was nabbed from Khera Khurd, Vedpal, 55, from Narela, and Naveen, 30, along with brothers Ankit and Hariom, were arrested from Karala.
Along with the six arrests, 36 people allegedly belonging to Kala Jathedi, Jitender alias Gogi, Neeraj Bawana, Rajesh Bawana, Tillu Tajpuriya, Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, and Nettu Dabodh gangs were also apprehended.
The police said they also recovered cash worth Rs. 49.60 lakh, 1.36 kg of gold, and 14.60 kg of silver during the raids.
