Police nab ‘abductors’ after high-speed chase in Rohini

Seeing the police tailing them, the accused left the main road and took a dirt road.

Police on Sunday night rescued two eunuchs allegedly abducted by four youths after a dramatic chase over 30 km in Rohini that saw police fire at the Toyota Corolla’s tyres to stop it.

The high-speed chase began around 1 am. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer district) Shweta Chauhan was on night patrol duty. As she was passing Madhuban Chowk, she saw the Toyota Corolla. Realising that the youths in the car had allegedly abducted the eunuchs, Chauhan asked her wireless operator to flash a message and asked her driver to chase the car.

“She asked her driver to give chase. The wireless operator simultaneously flashed a message, alerting other PCR vans,” a police officer said.

The chase lasted for nearly 30 km. Seeing the police tailing them, the accused left the main road and took a dirt road. Police were finally able to stop the car by firing at its tyres. “Chauhan gave her pistol to the wireless operator and asked him to shoot. He shot at the rear tyre. Soon after, the car came to a stop,” the officer said.

The accused then jumped out of the car and started running. Chauhan along with the wireless operator chased them, during which they were attacked by the accused, police said. After a scuffle, they managed to nab two of them, identified as Manish (22) and Jagvinder (27). The two eunuchs were rescued. The other two accused, who managed to escape, were arrested later.

Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Deepak Mishra praised the team involved in the chase.
