Goldy Brar Ten men associated with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar have been arrested by the Gurgaon Police. They were allegedly planning to commit a robbery by taking hostages and demanding a ransom, police said.
Seven suspects were arrested after a tip-off from Bhondsi in Gurgaon. The accused have been identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Anil; Harjot Singh alias Leela; Ajay Isharwalia alias Punjabi; Prince alias Golu; Joginder alias Joga; Sandeep alias Deep; and Sinderpal alias Bittu. During interrogation, three accomplices — Dharmendra alias Dharma, Deepak alias Dilawar, and Karan — were also arrested from Devilal Stadium near Rajiv Chowk, allegedly with illegal weapons in their possession, police said.
Police have charged the seven under IPC sections 399, 402, 171, and 25 (1-B) (a) of the Arms Act for planning to commit robbery and holding hostages.
Additionally, an FIR has also been registered against the other three suspects for possessing illegal weapons under relevant sections of the Arms Act, police said.
Police said during initial interrogation, it was found that all arrested individuals were members of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs. They had come to Gurgaon allegedly to carry out robbery and kidnapping, police said, adding that their plan involved Joginder posing as a police inspector, while the other members would impersonate police to commit the crime. Their alleged intention was to kidnap a man and demand a ransom worth crores of rupees, police said.
According to ACP Varun Dahiya, the arrested individuals revealed during interrogation that they operated on the instructions of Brar and other gangsters who were based abroad.
Police said several criminal cases, including robbery, dacoity, attempted murder, theft, assault, threatening, and possession of illegal weapons, have been registered against these suspects in various districts of Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Police said four pistols, 28 live cartridges, two vehicles, a stick, a torch, and seven police uniforms have been recovered from the accused.
