Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone of three buildings of the Delhi University on June 30, officials said on Tuesday. These buildings are for the Faculty of Technology, a computer centre and an academic block. The PM will also release a book of logos of all DU colleges and three coffee table books. Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan will be the guest of honour for the ceremony. Speaking to The Indian Express, DU South Campus director Shriprakash Singh said, “There are two sites under construction, one is opposite the Vice-Chancellor’s office and another alongside the Geology and Science library. Since the PM cannot visit the site physically, he will inaugurate these virtually during the ceremony on June 30.” He added, “.The reference to most of those logos are very unique and are from Upanishads. One of the coffee table books will also be about that, the other two will be about historical facts and a compilation of all activities conducted by DU.” Singh further stated that all former V-Cs of the university have also been invited. DU has introduced B.Tech programmes from the upcoming academic session with a capacity of 360 students. The building for the Faculty of Technology will cater to them. For the closing ceremony, an exhibition on the journey of 100 years of the university would be organised. As per a communication from DU, the V-C also took stock of the preparations by visiting the Multipurpose Hall of the sports complex.
