Back-to-back project inaugurations by PM Modi in Delhi today, here are the traffic diversions to keep in mind

PM Modi will inaugurate four projects in Delhi today, due to which barricading and traffic restrictions have been put in place on multiple routes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch multiple developmental projects across Delhi on Friday, January 3, and the Delhi police has issued a traffic advisory to maintain proper flow of vehicles across important routes today. The Delhi Traffic Police said that eight routes in the capital will face restrictions today, and the advisory will remain in place till 4 pm.

PM Modi will lay the foundations stone of the Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura in Najafgarh, and inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects – the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) type-II quarters at Sarojini Nagar.

The Delhi police said in its advisory that heavy vehicular movement is expected in North West Delhi today due to VVIP visits.

The advisory further mentioned that traffic will be closed off or regulated on the following eight routes from 9 am to 4 pm on January 3 –

  • Mall Road (Ring Road): Hakikat Nagar Red Light to Azadpur Chowk (both sides).
  • GTK Road: Azadpur Chowk to Gurudwara Nanak Pio.
  • Bhamashah Marg: Model Town-1 to Nanak Pio.
  • Lala Achhintam Marg & Brahma Kumari Marg: Gujranwala & Derawal areas.
  • Nahar Singh Marg: Prembari Chowk to Inderlok Metro Station (both sides).
  • Gulab Singh Marg: Satyawati College to Prerna Chowk.
  • Swami Narayan Marg: Delhi Jal board Red Light to Laxmi Bai College.
  • Mahatma Gandhi Marg: Britannia Chowk to Azadpur.

Meanwhile, commuters travelling to Azadpur, Model Town, Kingsway Camp, Gujrwanwala Town, Derawal Nagar, Swabhiman Apartment, Ram Leela Ground and Ashok Vihar should be prepared for heavy traffic and obstructions, and should allocate more time to their travel.

PM Modi will also inaugurate CBSE’s Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka, a project worth over Rs 300 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone of three new projects in Delhi University, worth Rs 600 crore.

The launch of key central projects in Delhi comes just a few weeks ahead of the general election in the national capital, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) eyes to dethrone the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
