Plastic surgery invented in India, claims former Delhi University V-C
Dinesh Singh also said that cataract surgery was invented in India, much before the birth of Christ.

Former Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh Monday said India was a “knowledge society” in the olden times and that plastic surgery and cataract surgery were invented here, much before the birth of Christ. Delivering the Acharya Narendra Dev Memorial Lecture at the Acharya Narendra Dev College, he said there was much to learn from ancient Indian wisdom. “Aaj kal mahaul aisa hai ki log chauvinistic bahut ho gaye hain. Kabhi kabhi sarkar me bhi kuchh mantri hain (jo) zyada bol jaate hain… it is true that plastic surgery was invented in India, many years before the time of Christ,” said Singh, adding that he learnt it from a Russian historian. He added that cataract surgery, too, was developed in India.
He said that when institutions like Nalanda and Takshila began to decline, India also started to decline. And when the British colonised India, the decline was complete.
He said the idea of Google had been thought of by undergraduate students of Stanford University, and urged youth of the country to “rise to the occasion”. He, however, said that students were not able to rise because such thought processes are being “stifled”.
