Over 2 lakh applicants for 1,184 plots: Housing scheme near Jewar Airport in high demand

Officials said that out of the plots reserved for institutional units/establishments and farmers whose land has been acquired, 21% and 2% of plots will be reserved for SC/ST applicants respectively.

A residential plot scheme launched by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) last month along the Yamuna Expressway near the upcoming Jewar Airport, has received an overwhelming response as lakhs of people have registered for it.

The authority said a total number of 2.22 lakh people have registered for the scheme, which ended on Monday after one extension. A total of 1.66 lakh forms were purchased and 1.54 lakh applications were submitted. Apart from this, a total of 1.28 lakh applicants have deposited 10% earnest money.

The applications were invited for the proposed site in sectors 16, 17 & 20 of YEIDA for a total number of 1,184 plots of seven different sizes.

The smallest plot in the scheme is 120 sqm and the largest is 2000 sqm. Plot sizes vary from 162 sqm, 200 sqm, 300 sqm, 500 sqm and 1,000 sqm.

Under the scheme, there are only 19 plots of 2,000 sqm area and 13 plots of 1,000 sqm. For the area measuring 120 sqm, there are 194 plots.

Out of the total proposed plots, 206 plots (17.5%) are reserved for farmers, 59 plots (5%) for functional industry/institutional commercial units category, and the remaining 919 for the general category.

Officials said that out of the plots reserved for institutional units/establishments and farmers whose land has been acquired, 21% and 2% of plots will be reserved for SC/ST applicants respectively.

The residential plot scheme was launched on August 8. Now, the plots will be allotted through a draw of lots on October 18. Officials said the rate of land in residential plots under the scheme is Rs 24,600 per sqm.

“The (Jewar) Airport is one of the main reasons for the overwhelming response of the buyers. Along with this, different infrastructure projects – Apparel Park, Medical Device parks, proposed Film City etc. – and overall development of the area is attracting people to the Yamuna Authority,” said an official.

Officials also said that in the case of successful applicants, the registration money shall be adjusted against the total payable premium of the plot. For unsuccessful applicants, the registration money shall be refunded without interest.
