On way to Jamia for Class 6 entrance exams, 2 boys, driver killed in accident with two trucks in Ghaziabad

Police said the boys, all under 14, were headed to the Capital to sit for the entrance examination for admission to Class 6 at Jamia Millia Islamia. Officials said that the incident took place around 6.20 am in the Crossing Republik police station area.

On their way from Amroha to appear for an entrance examination in Delhi, two minor boys were killed when their car rammed into a stationary truck before being hit by a container truck from behind on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in Ghaziabad early on Saturday.
The 24-year-old driver of the car, an Ertiga, was also killed in the accident. Four other children sustained injuries.

The deceased have been identified as driver Anas, Bijnor resident Unesh (12) and Azam (13), who hailed from Sambhal.

“The driver was going from Amroha with 11 children to Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. As soon as the driver reached near Neelam Dharam Kanta on the expressway, his car collided with a dumper truck, which was parked on the overtake lane. The car then went out of control after which a canter truck hit it from behind. The driver was taken to the district hospital MMG, where doctors declared him dead,” said Veerendra Kumar, additional DCP (Traffic).

“Other children injured in the accident were taken to SJM hospital in Ghaziabad. Three children who were severely injured were referred to Manipal Hospital and another three to Sarvodaya Hospital for further treatment. Two children died during treatment at Manipal,” added the official.

Officials said the surviving nine children, aged between 10 and 13 years, are undergoing treatment at the hospitals. They are residents of different Western UP districts such as Amroha, Moradabad, Sambhal and Budaun.

Kumar said the drivers of the dumper truck and container truck left their vehicles and fled from the spot. They are yet to be traced. “The main cause of the accident is the Ertiga car colliding with the dumper, which was parked in the overtake lane, and then going out of control and again being hit by the canter coming from behind. Further legal action is being taken,” said an official.

An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 304-A (Causing death by negligence), 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).
