After a report published in The Tribune on Friday regarding derogatory remarks by BJP nominee Dr Sudha Yadav at a campaign in Rewari,the district administration has issued a notice to her.
Umashankar Singh,the Election Observer for three Assembly segments of the Gurgaon parliamentary constituency at Rewari,said he had gone through the news report and stringent action would be taken against any candidate found guilty of misconduct or violation of the model code of conduct.
Rewari Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer,C G Rajnikanthan said: Action under Section 125 of the Representation of People Act,1951,has been initiated in this regard. We have issued a notice to Dr Yadav. She has been given time till Saturday 11 am to explain why action should not be taken against her.
The DC maintained if the candidate was not able to give a satisfactory reply,appropriate action would be taken.
According to the report in The Tribune,Yadav on Thursday allegedly told the gathering in Rewari: Agar Congress dubara aa gayi to Musalman ke siwaye kisi ki baat nahi karegi.
Yadav defended herself saying it is a case of misrepresentation and that she did not target any community in particular.
I was referring to the Prime Ministers recent statement that the Muslims are the poorest in the country and a separate budgetary allocation was necessary for them. Then how can they say they secular? asked Yadav.
According to official sources,records of public meetings of Dr Sudha Yadav were being reviewed.
