Looking at extending the existing Aqua Line Metro corridor from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Noida and Greater Noida authorities for in-principal approval.
A total of eight stations — Botanical Garden, Noida Sector 44, Noida Office, Noida Sector 97, Noida Sector 105, Noida Sector 108, Noida Sector 93 and Panchsheel Balak Inter College — will come up under the project. The route will end at the already existing Noida Sector 142 station.
Botanical Garden will serve as an interchange station between NMRC’s Aqua Line and Delhi Metro’s Magenta & Blue Lines. It will cover a total length of 11.56 km and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,254.35 crore.
Lokesh M, managing director of NMRC, said that this project will benefit commuters travelling from Noida-Greater Noida towards Delhi and vice-versa.
Officials said the DPR will be placed before the NMRC board in the next meeting, after which it will be processed for approval by the Uttar Pradesh government and the Centre.
NMRC had entrusted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to prepare the DPR of the 11.5-km Metro extension corridor, which it summited recently. This project is expected to provide ease of connectivity to residents of Noida and Greater Noida and further connect them to the Delhi Metro network.
