Noida: Engineering student ends life in flat, say police

Police said the body of third-year B. Tech student Satyam was found hanging from a ceiling fan by his friends at their residence at C block in Alpha- I around 4.30 pm on Tuesday.

A 27-year-old engineering student committed suicide at his rented residence in Greater Noida’s Alpha Sector-1 on Tuesday afternoon, owing to poor performance in his university examinations, police said.

Police said the body of third-year B. Tech student Satyam was found hanging from a ceiling fan by his friends at their residence at C block in Alpha- I around 4.30 pm on Tuesday. “The student used to live in a rented flat with four other friends. They had gone to the university for examinations around 9 am. They returned home at 4.15-4.30pm and found the main door locked from inside. They unlocked the door with a spare key,” a senior police officer said.

As they opened the door, they found Satyam hanging from the ceiling fan. “He had used a chair and a stool to reach the fan. He used a black cable wire to hang himself. His body was three feet above the floor. They called the engineering institute and a PCR call was made minutes later,” the police officer further said.

The police have also recovered a suicide note from the flat.
