55-year-old Noida doctor arrested after helper files rape case

A 55-year-old doctor in Noida was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a woman who worked as a helper in his clinic and threatening to kill her if she complained, the police said. In her complaint, the woman also accused the doctor’s wife and daughter of assaulting her.

According to the police, the 25-year-old woman alleged that on June 9, the doctor raped her after giving her sleeping pills. The woman also alleged that the doctor had taken some videos of her and threatened to upload them on social media if she filed any complaint.

“She said that the daughter of the accused assaulted her and broke her phone. She said that the accused’s wife also assaulted her. We are investigating the allegations,” a police official said.

A case under sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), 427 (mischief causing damage) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. The doctor’s wife and daughter have also been named as accused in the FIR.
