A new video surfaced from Tihar jail on Friday, purportedly showing gangster Tillu Tajpuriya being assaulted and stabbed by fellow inmates even as his wounded body was being taken out of the ward by jail and police officials, who barely intervened.
Tajpuriya, who was accused in the 2021 Rohini court shootout case, was allegedly killed by four rival gangsters inside Tihar jail on May 2.
The video, seen by The Indian Express, purportedly shows Tajpuriya’s body being removed from the ward by jail officials and Tamil Nadu Special Police force officials with the help of a blanket and being taken to the common area towards the exit.
It then shows the accused entering the common area and thrashing and stabbing Tajpuriya even as the officials stand around, not stepping in to separate the inmates.
A senior jail official said: “It is being probed how the inmates got access to the area and why officials did not separate the accused inmates from the deceased…we have identified the officials through the footage and each of them will have to furnish a response.”
