New Delhi: Second-hand car sales up after odd-even, claim dealers

Rahul Pangasa, of Pangasa motors Karol Bagh and a member of association, said sales have spiked since the government announced it would make odd-even a recurring feature. “We are getting customers, with high-end cars, who want a second car for their family. Many want two cars, one with odd and one with even-numbered registration plates,” said Pangasa.

The owner, who has been in the business for 15 years, said they have cars ranging Rs 50,000 and Rs 5 lakh. During the first phase of the scheme, sales did not spike because people thought the scheme would not become a permanent feature, he added. Other car dealers said they used to sell eight to 10 secondhand cars per month. Now the figure is 15 to 16.

Khushwant Singh, general secretary of the association, said the scheme has proved better for business. “Inquiries for second-hand cars have increased,” he said.
