Laying the foundation stone for new building blocks at Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya/Bal Vidyalaya in East Vinod Nagar, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Saturday said the envisioned quality of the future school will be like Columbia University.

The project, Kejriwal said, had been planned by his former deputy Manish Sisodia and will have 93 rooms of which classes will run in 71 and 22 rooms will be used for labs, library, activity, staff rooms and principal office. The school currently runs in two shifts with 5,000 students.

Students currently studying at the school, the CM added, can learn four international languages, French, German, Spanish and Japanese, which not even many private schools in Delhi teach. “The universe and God test people walking on the path of truth; today, Atishi and I may be laying the foundation for this new school building, but when it gets ready by February next year, Manish and I will inaugurate it,” he said.

Calling Sisodia the architect of the “education revolution” in Delhi, Kejriwal said his achievements had an impact across the country and were behind the “decision to send him behind bars”. When one walks on the path of truth, all “demonic forces” conspire against them, Kejriwal said, citing Lord Ram, who was banished for 14 years, as an example.

Hitting out at the CM, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleged, “Kejriwal should know that a school does not become successful because of a good building but its teaching staff and good results are what make the school successful…”

Meanwhile, a war of words was triggered between Kejriwal and Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana over the former’s “less educated” jibe against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Khurana had tweeted videos of purported answer sheets of Class XI students from Delhi government schools, alleging, “Witness the truth of Delhi government schools. This is @ArvindKejriwal’s education revolution. 3 marks out of 80 for one child, 5 for some, 9 for some.

Every year more than 1 lakh children fail in 9th. And it is said that he brought a revolution in education. It’s amazing.”

Responding to Khurana, Kejriwal stated, “If some children are weak in studies, we will teach them by organising extra classes. One of these children will become the PM of the country in future. We do not want anyone to become PM in future with a fake degree.”
