Narela train robbery case: 3 of gang held

A day after the sensational robbery in a train in Narela area,a gang of dacoits allegedly involved in two such cases in the past week has been arrested by the Railway Police.

The arrested men,Sandeep,Ashok and Parveen Malik,are in their early twenties. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police,Railways,B S Gurjar said five other members of the gang are still at large.

The police said the gang,which robbed passengers on the Kalka-Delhi Himalayan Queen Express on Sunday night in Narela,was also allegedly involved in a similar incident aboard Unchahar Express on September 25.

The gang had boarded the Himalayan Queen Express from Sonepat on Sunday night. As the train approached Narela,they took out a pistol and knives and allegedly robbed passengers of cash,mobile phones and jewellery. The robbers jumped off the train and fled when a passenger pulled the chain,the police said.

“The gang targeted general compartments to commit robberies,” the police said. Seven mobile phones,two gold chains and other stolen articles were recovered.
