BJP MLA from Shakur Basti, Karnail Singh, wrote a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner Tuesday demanding action on namaz being offered in public spaces.

In his letter, Singh argued that religious gatherings on roads obstruct essential services. “I would like to draw your attention to an important issue. In our city, offering namaz on roads and public places disrupts traffic, causing inconvenience to the general public. Many times, ambulances, school buses, and other essential services are also affected due to this reason,” he wrote.

Singh urged authorities to take steps to restrict namaz gatherings to private premises. “We all have the right to follow our religion, but it is also important that public order and traffic are not affected. Therefore, you are requested to ensure religious activities are organised only in designated places and private premises,” the letter stated.
