A day after the 38-year-old co-owner of a confectionery shop was murdered at his residence in Moti Nagar,West Delhi, police are trying to piece the sequence of events together. Investigating officers are questioning the victims wife, his brother and his business partners in this regard. Virender Sachdeva was found murdered at his residence in Moti Nagar early on Wednesday morning. His wife Aarti told police that she and her husband were tied up by two masked intruders, who later ransacked the house. Police have registered a case of murder and causing injury. Prima facie, robbery does not appear to be the motive,an officer said. Aarti told police that she woke up around 4 am on Wednesday to find a couple of masked men, probably in their early thirties, hitting her husband in the head. She entered a state of shock and collapsed. An hour later, she woke up to find her husband on the floor, unconscious and bleeding profusely. She realised just then that her hands and legs were tied too. But she somehow managed to crawl to the window and throw two empty buckets outside, alerting the neighbours,Rajesh Murjani and Ashok Kumar. Police are yet to ascertain how the masked men entered the house as the mesh door as well as the wooden door seemed untouched, with no signs of a break-in. Also, the window was intact, making it seem like the assailants were known to either Aarti or Virender. The victims wife is currently in a fragile state, a senior officer said. Police investigations will also involve questioning of Virenders business partners. The victim used to run a confectionery business in Rajouri Garden, but he discontinued it after incurring losses. Virender then set up a new shop Snaxpert in Moti Nagar with a new business partner, he added.
