A 15-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped a four-year-old, threw him off a 30-foot cliff in a forested area in Central Delhi and then hit him with a stone, and left him at the site with grievous injuries to die to take revenge from his mother.
Police on Sunday said that the teen has been apprehended and the child succumbed to his injuries.
Officers said that they received a complaint on September 17 about the kidnapping of the four-year-old. In the complaint, the child’s mother stated that the four-year-old returned from tuition around 6.30 pm that day and was playing near the house.
After some time, she noticed that her son was missing.
As police filed a case and began a probe, CCTV footage showed the missing boy with a teenager who was identified by the complainant.
When police detained the teen and questioned him, the juvenile told the police that the families were allegedly involved in a dispute previously.
“On the day of the incident, the teen had allegedly taken a motorcycle of a man and abandoned it in another locality. The victim’s mother informed the owner about this,” said Nidhin Valsan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central.
Valsan added, “Upon learning this, the teenager’s father scolded and thrashed him. Upset by the incident, when the complainant’s four-year-old son returned home from tuition and was playing near the house, he lured him away and took him to the forested area.”
Police have added murder charges to the FIR filed after the kidnapping complaint.
