Delhi teen apprehended for ‘killing tutor who sexually assaulted, blackmailed him’ for months

The incident was reported on Wednesday afternoon after locals in a Southeast Delhi locality found the 28-year-old tutor lying in a pool of blood, with deep cuts on his neck, at his family’s home.

Investigators checked the man’s call records and conducted a local enquiry. It was revealed that the deceased would go to several houses in the area to give tuition to kids. He was often seen with the minor, whom he met two months back at a park.

DCP (Southeast) Rajesh Deo said, “The one-room set (where the victim was found dead) was occupied by tenants who vacated the place a few days back. Multiple teams were put on the case. During surveillance, it was found that a juvenile was involved; he was identified and called to the police station.”

“It emerged that the deceased was sexually assaulting the boy for months. He also made a video and threatened to release it if the boy didn’t listen to him… Fed up with the threats and repeated sexual assault, the boy planned to kill the tutor,” added the DCP.

Deo said that on Wednesday around 11.30 am, after the tutor called him, the boy took the cutter and went to the house. “Finding an opportunity, he pulled out the cutter and attacked the deceased.”

He took the man’s phone and fled from the spot, said police. The DCP said they had recovered mobile phones and clothes worn by him at the time of the murder. Sources also said the boy had recently bought the cutter.

Police said the boy lives with his five sisters and an elder brother. Their father died a few years back and their mother went for Hajj in June.

“During questioning, the minor revealed he was traumatised but didn’t know how to ask for help,” said an officer, adding that he couldn’t gather the courage to speak to his siblings because of the video the accused had recorded.

Another officer said, “We have found some videos and photos… The deceased knew the minor and his friends and threatened him that he would share the videos with everyone. The family didn’t suspect anything since they thought the deceased was helping the boy with his studies.”

Investigators are now questioning other children in the area whom the deceased tutored to ascertain if there have been similar instances of sexual abuse or if they knew about the minor.
