A 25-year-old man, an MCom degree holder from Delhi University, was arrested on April 8 after he allegedly pretended to be drinking alcohol and eating eggs inside the Delhi Metro train, the police said. According to the Delhi Police, the accused, identified as Akash Sharma, shot the video of the act while travelling in the Pink Line from Welcome Metro station to Karkardooma Court station around 10 pm on March 23 to become popular. “He said that he took soft drinks and tried to impress upon people that he was drinking liquor to gain popularity on social media. He committed an offence under Section 59 of DMRC Act and legal action has been initiated against him,” Hareshwar Swami, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Metro, said. Eggs & "Alcohol" in the Metro? They later released a video which showed the accused admitting to the offence. Sharma told the police that he lives in a rented accommodation with his parents and younger brother. “To locate the passenger, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) staff, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staff and house-keeping staff were also enquired. The viral video was also shared on the police station's WhatsApp groups to search for the person,” Swami said.
