Anticipating more rush on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and with its network now expanding across the NCR,Delhi Metro will run 187 extra trips on its five corridors on Tuesday to cater to the additional passengers.
This is a steep increase from last year’s 60 extra trips the Metro trains made on Raksha Bandhan which kept the DMRC’s cash registers ringing with over a million people opting for the new age transport system.
Trains will be run at peak-hour frequency from 8 AM to 8.30 PM on Tuesday and 21 trains which are normally withdrawn from lines during off peak hours (12:30 PM to 04:30 PM) will be kept in service,DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
In all, including the 187 extra trips,Metro trains would make a total of 2,484 trips on Tuesday.
