The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is planning to work with other departments to tackle waterlogging in the city. This comes after Mayor Shelly Oberoi’s meeting with MCD officials to review monsoon preparedness. After rainfall in Delhi on Saturday, waterlogging complaints were received from Janakpuri, Timarpur, and Mundka. “In case of waterlogging during rains, immediate action should be taken to drain the water.,” Oberoi said. The mayor instructed officials to form an interdepartmental coordination group along with officials of PWD and other departments. “When it comes to monsoon mitigation, drains come under both PWD and MCD which is why it's essential to coordinate.,” an MCD official said. The MCD is currently working on cleaning Dayal Singh College drain and those in Srinivaspuri, Gokulpur and Patel Nagar. Meanwhile, in Gurgaon, following rains on Monday morning, waterlogging was reported at Sector 75 road, Bajghera underpass and service roads on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said that earth-filling work started at junction point of Southern and Central Peripheral Road. The India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for the seven districts in South Haryana, including Gurgaon on June 26. Light to moderate rain is on the forecast till June 28 in the district.
